With the “Sugar Cane Cutting” experience, L’Aventure du Sucre invites visitors every Wednesday morning to step into the heart of the sugar cane fields for an immersive experience.
In an authentic setting, discover and try your hand at cutting sugar cane – a seemingly simple gesture that is deeply rooted in Mauritius’ history, heritage and identity.
Guided by our experts and machete in hand, you will have the opportunity to experience this iconic tradition for yourself, while learning about the techniques, rhythm and precision it requires.
The experience continues with a tasting of freshly cut sugar cane and freshly pressed fangourin juice.

Enjoy Conscious Cuisine at Le Fangourin
At Le Fangourin, the commitment to sustainability and the fight against food waste are reflected in concrete actions every day. Local sourcing is prioritised, with a preference given to suppliers carrying the Made in Moris label.
In the kitchen, portion sizes are carefully considered to minimise excess, while used cooking oil is collected and sent for recycling. Vegetable peelings, bones and fish waste are carefully preserved and transformed into homemade stocks and sauces, giving every ingredient a second life. Waste-sorting bins make responsible waste management easier, while all organic waste is processed through the BiobiN system and transformed into compost.
The restaurant also offers vegetarian options and follows a “zero plastic” approach: no straws, drinks served exclusively in returnable glass bottles that are sent back to suppliers, and complimentary filtered water, either still or infused. An organic vegetable garden on site also helps ensure maximum freshness.
