Opening times

L’Aventure du Sucre museum is open from Monday to Saturday (including public holidays) from 10am to 4pm.

Last entry recommended: 3pm
Ticket office closes at 3:15pm

Duration of the visit

Exploring the museum can take from 45 minutes to a full three hours for a detailed tour. As well as access to the temporary exhibition, the entrance ticket includes tastings of over 30 sugarcane products in the Village Boutik, including natural brown sugars, New Grove’s 5-star rums, vanilla, and exotic jams and honeys.

  • Adult: 1200 rupees
  • Child (6 to 13): 600 rupees
    Guide booklet with games included in partnership with Mauritius Commercial Bank
  • Youth (13 to 18): 600 rupees
  • Student (18 to 25): 600 rupees (upon presentation of a student ID)
  • Family discount with child(ren) : 10%

Guided tours of the museum

An interactive visit, as our guides share their passion for our history and heritage, and the secrets of sugarcane.

In addition to the entrance ticket (including access to the museum, the temporary exhibition, and the tastings), the guided tour costs 300 rupees per person (from 15 years old).

The cane cutting

A unique experience in the heart of the sugarcane plantations – learn how to cut the cane!

Planned museum closures

The museum, the Village Boutik and Le Fangourin restaurant will be closed from 24th to the 26th December (included) and from 31st December to 2nd January (included).

Get to the museum

L’Aventure du Sucre stands in the heart of Beau Plan, an area famous for its rich historical and natural heritage, in the north of the island. Its neighbours include the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and the industrial remains of Beau Plan.

L’Aventure du Sucre can be accessed:

By taxi or by car

Turn off the M2 motorway at the Pamplemousses roundabout. Your vehicle can be parked in a big secure car park at the entrance of the museum.

By bus

Use the main bus routes in the region and get off at Beau Plan or Mahogany. The museum is a few minutes, on foot, away from the shopping centre.

Our exploration guide invites children to discover the history of Mauritius and its famous sugarcane while having fun. Throughout your visit, this educational guide helps young visitors to solve a series of riddles and sets them on the path to becoming a great explorer! The guide also contains an explanatory glossary, activities, delicious recipes, and original experiments to do at home.

Smaller children (2 to 6 years old) can enjoy their own experience with the specially created toddler’s tour and can have fun roaming through the museum!

MCB Rupys card holders receive an additional 25% discount.
Free admission is granted to children under 6 years old, ICOM members (with a valid membership card showing the current year sticker), journalists (with a valid national or international press card), and local teachers (upon presentation of a valid ID card and following the prior procedure: submission by the institution of the list of teachers, including each teacher’s full name, subject taught, and grade level).
