At L’Aventure du Sucre, a brand-new mural now welcomes you from the moment you arrive. Conceived and created by Mauritian artist Joshila Dhaby, this striking artwork celebrates the richness of our natural environment through sugar cane and the deep connection between heritage, nature and contemporary artistic expression.

An Artwork in Dialogue with Its Surroundings

The mural features a female figure emerging gracefully from a field of sugar cane. Her face appears to quietly observe visitors, drawn towards the light. Poetic and mysterious, the composition encourages everyone to slow down, take a closer look, and discover the many details woven into the artwork.

Designed specifically for its location near the parking area, the mural focuses its visual impact on the upper section of the wall, ensuring it remains fully visible even when cars are parked in front of it. This thoughtful approach transforms a simple transitional space into an open-air gallery.

Look closely and you’ll spot a subtle image of the Mauritius kestrel, a tribute to the island’s unique biodiversity and a symbol of its remarkable natural heritage.

Using a luminous palette inspired by the natural hues of sugar cane, Joshila Dhaby has created a work in which every detail reflects the importance of preserving the landscapes that shape our identity.

Meet Joshila Dhaby

A self-taught Mauritian artist, Joshila Dhaby began her artistic journey with watercolour and acrylic painting before turning to street art, where she developed her distinctive visual language, particularly through the use of stencil techniques.

Deeply inspired by the tropical landscapes that surround her, she places nature at the heart of her work. Her artistic universe reflects a strong commitment to ecology and environmental conservation. Through each of her creations, she raises awareness of the impact of human activity on our planet while encouraging viewers to reflect on their own role in protecting it.

Her vibrant, harmonious and thought-provoking works have captivated audiences far beyond Mauritius. Her art has been exhibited in cities around the world, including Copenhagen, Bristol, Miami, Dubai, Johannesburg and Ringsted, helping to showcase the Mauritian art scene on the international stage.
