All together for breast cancer awareness month 2026

As part of Pink October in Mauritius, Terra Foundation, L’Aventure du Sucre and Grays joined forces with Link to Life to kick off a month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, promoting prevention and highlighting the importance of early detection. Held at L’Aventure du Sucre, the event brought together partners, employees and Link to Life beneficiaries around a shared message: raising awareness, promoting prevention and taking action to support women’s health and well-being.

A Launch Marked by Solidarity

The day began with a makeup touch-up session hosted by Grays for around thirty beneficiaries. Professional makeup artists offered them a moment of care and well-being, along with personalised beauty tips.

The launch continued with a poi performance presented by Link to Life beneficiaries and led by artist Hafiza Jepaul, founder of Metamorphosis, an initiative dedicated to flow arts and mental well-being. A certified SpinPoi instructor and NLP Meta Coach, she is also a fire performer with Impulsion Events, specialising in fire, LED and acrobatic performances.

The performance followed a solidarity workshop held the previous day at L’Aventure du Sucre, where participants had the opportunity to discover the art of poi (read the article). They then presented their choreography during the Pink October launch event.

The traditional Pink Promise also served as a powerful symbol of the collective commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer and encouraging early detection. Standing before a mirror, participants and guests were invited to make a promise: to take one meaningful step towards their own well-being or that of a loved one.

A concrete commitment to breast cancer screening in Mauritius

The ceremony concluded with Terra Foundation presenting a cheque to fund 30 breast cancer screenings: 15 for beneficiaries of Caritas Lakaz Lespwar Solitude and 15 for beneficiaries of Safire. The event also included a distribution of the poi props used during the workshops. “Terra Foundation’s goal is to provide comprehensive support that removes barriers to accessing healthcare. By directly sponsoring breast cancer screenings for 30 beneficiaries from the NGOs Caritas Lakaz Lespwar Solitude and Safire, we are putting our commitment into action by promoting preventive healthcare at the heart of the communities in which we operate.” said Marie-Annick Auguste, CSR Manager at Terra Foundation.

This initiative not only supports an essential public health cause, but also promotes values of respect, dignity, self-esteem and community solidarity.

“At Terra Foundation, we firmly believe that the health and well-being of our local communities are at the heart of our social commitments. This collaboration with L’Aventure du Sucre, Grays and Link to Life enables us to provide direct and meaningful support to women who need it most, by combining medical prevention with human support.” concluded Louis Denis Koenig, Chair of Terra Foundation’s CSR Committee.
