L’Aventure du Sucre offers an audio-guide app in seven languages

L’Aventure du Sucre has made available, for its French, English, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Italian and German visitors, a free audio guide in the form of a smart app, downloadable on to mobile phones and tablets.

Based on the same model as the audio guides to such major heritage sites as the Jacquemard André Museum in Paris, the Ephrusi de Rothschild Villa and Gardens on the Côte d’Azur, the Castle and Carrières de Lumières in Beaux de Provence, and the Roman theatre in Orange, the app took more than a year to develop. It aims to enhance the experience of visitors to the site who speak one of the five languages. The smart app includes a summary of the main subjects the Museum covers, details of the special sugars and run tastings in the Village Boutik, and about Le Fangourin Restaurant. “Our information panels are all in French and English so we wanted to make the tour easily accessible to a wider public” explains Sandrine d’Unienville, manager of the cultural development and the communication of the site. “Our Chinese visitors are particularly keen on history and anecdotes about industry, and we enable them to go round the Museum more easily without needing to resort to a guide.”

This kind of mobile app combine the benefits of a tourist brochure giving information about opening hours, admission fees and geographical location with the functions of an audio guide providing comments, explanations and illustrations.

It’s simple to access. On arrival at the Museum, visitors can connect to Wi-Fi and download the app from the Apple or Google Play stores. Throughout the tour, signs indicate points of interest.
