A redesigned museum for an immersive experience
Housed in a beautifully restored former sugar factory, this heritage site takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the history of Mauritius and its deep connection with sugarcane.
Through a modern scenography and new interactive spaces, visitors can discover Mauritius’ industrial heritage in a whole new light. Soundscapes, subtle lighting, contemporary design and innovative educational tools enrich the visit. Historic machines such as the locomotive, barge and giant boiler stand as living witnesses to a bygone era.
A heritage site committed to sustainability
A pioneer of sustainable tourism in Mauritius, L’Aventure du Sucre has long been engaged in an active approach to eco-tourism and sustainability.
Through its sustainable development charter, the museum implements concrete actions such as:
- Waste reduction and upcycling workshops
- Educational events on sustainable development
- Solidarity partnerships with Mauritian producers and artisans
At the end of the museum tour, the Village Boutik offers a fine selection of local and artisanal products labelled Made in Moris, helping to support the Mauritian economy.
This committed approach has once again been rewarded this year with TripAdvisor’s 2025 Traveller’s Choice Award — proof of enduring excellence recognised by visitors from around the world.
